Hi there, I’m Jenna

The travel enthusiast and dietitian behind TripWell Nutrition

The goal of this website is to empower health-conscious travellers to optimize their travels by optimizing their health. Like a traditional travel blog, this website will be a source of destination guides, hotel reviews, and travel hacks. I also aim to use my professional acumen to add a nutritious twist – think restaurant recommendations, nutrition insights for regional dishes or ingredients, explanations of global nutrition regulations, nourishing recipes for when you return home, etc.

As the daughter of a flight attendant, travel was always a part of my family culture.

I remember my mom coming home from trips and opening her suitcase, pulling out snacks and treats from around the world by the handful. Each food item had unique flavors,  characters, and nutrition designations.

She and my dad always prioritized travel, so I was fortunate to see much of the world at young ages because of them. With my mom’s flight passes, my family was able to do so more affordably. Even as a child and teenager, I loved the excitement and possibility of being at the airport. I loved the thrill of visiting a new city or country, of trying new flavors and seeing new cultures and different ways of doing things. And at the end of the day, it’s always about the people – those you travel with and those that you meet and that touch your heart along the way.

In my early 20’s, I lived in the Middle East for about 6 months as a study abroad student, then moved to South Korea for about 18 months as a missionary for my church. As both of these adventures  were longer term, I experienced travel in a different way, feeling what it was like to become something of a “local” rather than a tourist. Rather than just observing people and customs, I got to truly become a part of them.

Even after I aged out of my flight benefits, travel remained a passion and core value of mine. With my husband, I learned how to better utilize credit card points, find flight deals, and chose some good old fashioned savings to continue  this passion. To date, I’ve visited 32 countries and am always adding more.

Professional Background

I later earned my Bachelor’s of Science degree in Exercise & Wellness from Brigham Young University. I was actually a personal trainer for 4 years and group fitness instructor for 2 concurrent with the remainder of my schooling.

I also obtained a Master’s of Clinical Nutrition degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, completed my dietetic internship, and shortly after sat for my Registered Dietitian exam and became certified.

My professional mission is to change the global food system for the better. I’ve been fortunate to play a small part in that over the course of my career. I have worked for a large food company for several years in nutrition labeling and regulations. I hope to use this knowledge to assist you in feeling your best and understanding your surroundings as you travel the world.

Thank you for following along, and thank you for letting me be a small part of your travel journeys.

Healthy travels!
